The Rocking Grounds

What do you get when you combine world class guitarists and keyboardists with the Godfather of Video Game Music (Nobuo Uematsu)?  You get the most awesome rock and roll band that ever existed - The Black Mages.

When hearing their music, gamers will recognize the timeless melodies from the Final Fantasy series.  Guitarists should be able to appreciate that Tsuyoshi Sekito and Michio Okamiya are outstanding guitarists who are worthy of being emulated.  If you happen to be both a gamer and a guitarist like me, you may have looked up guitar tablature for The Black Mages and come up disappointingly short.  There just isn't that much sheet music out there for video game music, despite its growing popularity.

After hearing this band and not finding much tablature for them, I decided it was time for a change and time to give back to the community.  It took weeks of listening to the song to figure out each part, but I can now present to you a video game arrangement that has it all: The Rocking Grounds - from their second album, The Black Mages II: The Skies Above.  As of right now, you won't find this sheet music anywhere else - not even if you manage to get a copy of the elusive, out-of-print The Black Mages Official Multitrack Score (which only has songs from their first album anyway).

Here's my Guitar Pro file for The Rocking Grounds as well as the recorded track on SoundCloud.

This is one of my first serious attempts at transcribing a song, but I think I got it pretty close.  Feel free to leave constructive comments or corrections on this post.
